HC issues notice to State and HPU to extend last date to fill up vacant posts for B.Ed Colleges

The Himachal Pradesh High Court today issued notice to the Secretary Education and Registrar, Himachal Pradesh University in a petition filed by the Himachal Pradesh B.Ed. College’s Association in matter pertaining to extending the last date of filling up the vacant seats in B.Ed. Colleges for the session 2016-18.

A Division Bench comprising Chief Justice Mansoor Ahmad Mir and Justice Tarlok Singh Chauhan also directed the respondents to file reply in the matter within one week. The petitioner association has prayed to quash the order of the Chairman, Department of Education, Himachal Pradesh University of Sept 3, 2016 whereby the members of the B.Ed. Collage Association were intimated the last date for admitting students to B.Ed. Session 2016-18 i.e. Sep 18, 2016.

The petitioner association also prayed that the last date for the admission in the said course be extended till Nov 15, 2016. The petitioner association further prayed that the condition of admitting students to B.EdB.Ed. course from amongst those students who have appeared in B.Ed. entrance examination test having any minimum score may be relaxed and the Colleges may be permitted to fill up the vacant seats from all available sources.

The petitioner as also prayed to compensate the members of the association for the loss which they would be sustaining on account of the seats remaining vacant on account of admitting students only from the candidates having appeared in B.Ed. entrance test.
