Hundreds of lawyers staged a protest outside the premises of the Himachal Pradesh State Secretariat against the hike in permit fees for sealed roads in the town and demanded that the government immediately withdraw this decision.
Lawyers also protested against the government and demanded Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu meet them and resolve their issues.
As a result of their protest, traffic movement on the Sanjauli-Shimla road was disrupted, causing great inconvenience to commuters.
During the protest, the lawyers said that the state government had imposed hefty charges for sealed road permits, which are unaffordable.
Lawyers also warned the government of launching a massive movement if the hike in permit fees is not withdrawn.
