Himachal Pradesh Police personnel will be taught Tibetan and Chinese languages. Special training will also be given to the jawans to strengthen the intelligence system on the India-China border.
Kinnaur and Lahaul-Spiti districts share a 240 km border with China. Around 48 villages are located near the international border, of which 36 fall in Kinnaur, which shares a border of 160 km, while the remaining 12 villages are in Lahaul-Spiti, which shares a border of 80 km with China.
Four police posts will be set up in the border areas of Chitkul, Namgya and Chango in Kinnaur and Sumdo in Lahaul-Spiti district. For this, the state government has also sent a proper proposal to the central government.
The police posts will not only fulfill the long pending demand of the public but also reduce the growing threat along the India-China border.
An analysis by the team of seven IPS officers who visited the border villages and the international border found that the population of these villages was dwindling due to lack of economic opportunities and only old women were left in most of the border villages.
Remote and isolated villages are being developed in Kinnaur and Lahaul-Spiti districts along the China border. In the last two years, the infrastructure on the India-China border has been strengthened, in which road facilities and air defense systems, communication facilities, intelligence systems have been strengthened.
