In Himachal Pradesh, the temperature has started to drop due to clear night sky and partly cloudy day. On Monday too, it was cloudy in most of the areas, due to which cold was felt.

The Met department has predicted rain or snow in isolated parts of Lahaul-Spiti, Chamba Kullu, Kangra, Mandi and Kinnaur, which is expected to bring down the temperature further.

The Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted thunderstorm or lightning at isolated places in the central hills of the state today. Baring Hansa in the Lahaul-Spiti district received one centimeter of snow.

Shimla recorded a minimum temperature of 11.6 degrees as against yesterday’s 14 degrees. Shimla recorded the highest-ever minimum and maximum temperature of 14.4 degrees Celsius and 23.2 degrees Celsius on Saturday.

Shimla’s night temperature was 2.4 notches lower than yesterday but eight notches above normal, the Meteorological Department said.

Temperature at Bhuntar Airport in Kullu 10.2, Kalpa (Kinnaur) 4.4, Dharamshala (Kangra) 8.2, Una 12.2, Nahan (Sirmour) 13.5, Keylong 0.4, . Solan 7.6, 11 Manali 8.8, Kangra 13, Mandi 10.2, Bilaspur 12.5, Hamirpur 11.7, Chamba 11.7, Dalhousie 10, Juberhatti Airport 12.5, Kufri 9 and Narkanda 7.4 degrees Celsius.

Lahaul-Spiti district administration informed that the Manali-Leh National Highway (NH-003) has been opened for four-wheelers till Darcha after remaining closed due to avalanche near Dhundi.

It still snowed between Darcha o Shinkula. Pangi-Killar Highway (SH-26) is also closed due to avalanche. Kaza Road (NH – 505) is closed from Grefu to Kaza and is open for four-wheelers from Sumdo to Losar.

The department has advised locals and tourists to avoid unnecessary travel in case of snowfall.
