Now HRTC will also run on Electricity only; CM said, Electric Vehicles will be Included in Transport Corporation

Chief Minister Thakur Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu said that the Transport Department has been equipped with electric vehicles and now electric vehicles will be included in the Himachal Road Transport Corporation as well.

He instructed to include electric buses in the fleet of the Transport Corporation in a phased manner. The Chief Minister also asked the Transport Corporation to complete various formalities by holding a meeting with the manufacturers of electric vehicles. He was presiding over a review meeting of the Transport Department on Friday.

Deputy Chief Minister Mukesh Agnihotri was specially present in this. The Chief Minister said that the state government is working towards making Himachal a green energy state by the year 2025.

He said that concrete steps are being taken to achieve this target by giving priority to reducing carbon emissions and maximum exploitation of green energy.

He said that the operation of electric vehicles is also being promoted in the state. The Chief Minister said that the State Government is determined to provide better transport facilities to the local people as well as the passengers coming from outside.

It will also be considered to provide facilities like e-taxi at the local level through the youth. During the review meeting, Deputy Chief Minister Mukesh Agnihotri also gave his valuable suggestions.

Principal Advisor to Chief Minister (Information Technology and Innovation) Gokul Butail, Principal Secretary Transport RD Nazim, Managing Director of Transport Corporation Sandeep Kumar and Director Transport Anupam Kashyap were also present in the meeting.
