The state’s most literate district, which has won the first prize in centrally sponsored schemes like Good Governance, Pradhan Mantri Adarsh Gram Yojana, and Swachh Bharat Mission at the national level, has also got the first position in the Jal Jeevan Mission survey.
In fact, in the water life survey started at the national level, district Hamirpur has secured the first position in the monthly survey for January-2023.
The Jal Jeevan Survekshan was launched at the national level on October 21, 2022 by the Vice President. Under this survey, the availability of drinking water in all households and public institutions in the rural areas of the districts across the country and all the parameters related to it are assessed every month.
District Hamirpur has almost 100 percent fulfilled the parameter of providing water to every household.
It is said that water has reached one lakh ten thousand houses in the district under this Jal Jeevan Mission. Secondly, NABL-accredited labs have been set up at Hamirpur, Bhota, Bhoranj, and Nadaun in the district to check the purity of water.
Thirdly, in rural areas, VWS (Village Water Sanitation) committees have been formed to create awareness about water and to preserve water sources, which take care of the natural water sources and schemes of the villages.
Apart from this, training has been given to five women in every village to test water samples. Not only this, but they have also been provided with water sample test kits.
Matter of Pride for the District
According to DC Hamirpur Dev Shweta Banik, it is a matter of great pride for the district to get first place in the water life survey.
The Union Ministry of Jal Shakti has released the January-2023 data of this survey and Hamirpur has secured the first position in the category of ‘Best Performing Aspirants’.
He has congratulated the residents of the district and especially the officers and employees of the Jal Shakti Department. He also congratulated the officers and employees of Rural Development, Agriculture, and other related departments.
