Shimla Summer Fest: Flower exhibition ends, healthy baby show steals spotlight
The third day of the International Shimla Summer Festival featured the closing ceremony of the annual flower exhibition organised by SAGES as well as an exciting healthy baby show.
A large collection of flowers, ornamental plants and horticultural skills were showcased during the annual flower exhibition, which concluded here today with a prize distribution ceremony.
In the group category, Laxmi Das secured first prize in the Carnation section while Bhuvneshwar Kumar stood first in Lilium category and Om Prakash bagged second position. Similarly, Rajendra Kumar won the first prize in the Gladiolus category. Keshav Ram stood first in Rose section and Shishu Ram won the first prize in Alstroemeria category.
Bedsides, Mohal Lal stood first in the Cizel category while Arun Kumar stood second. Both the participants also secured first and second positions, respectively, in the Seasonal Flowers category.

In the individual category, Geeta Dutta won the highest number of awards, securing seven prizes, while Major Ritu Kalra and Surbhi Karol bagged five awards each. Karol was also honoured with the Best Exhibitor award for her attractive presentation.
SAGES president Sushma Bhardwaj thanked the district administration as well as the participants, government departments, sponsors, volunteers and visitors, stating that the success of the exhibition was a testament to the growing interest in horticulture, environmental conservation and appreciation of nature. She expressed hope that the event would be organised on an even grander and more attractive scale in the years to come.

Similarly, the Healthy Baby Competition featured toddlers from various age groups. A total of 216 children were registered online for the competition, of which 123 participated today. In all, 27 participants participated in the 0 to one year age group, of which Shivanya, daughter of Ankur Bhagata, secured first place, Viham, son of Ankit Thakur, second, and Zorawar Singh, son of Inderjeet Singh, bagged the third spot.
Also, 64 children participated in the one to three year age group, which was won by Advika, daughter of Swatinam Sharma. Furthermore, a total of 32 children participated in the three to five year age group, of which was won by Agampreet, son of Randeep Singh. MLA Shimla (Urban) Harish Janartha distributed cash prizes among winners.
