Army Career
In the year 2016, on 29 July, Anurag Thakur was selected for an army officer. So after this he was inducted into the Territorial Army as a regular officer.
Anurag Thakur had given selection exam and interview to get this post. Anurag Thakur passed this exam and was sent to Dronacharya Army Unit Bhopal for training for a few days. He completed his training from this center and became a successful officer.
Political Career

Anurag contested the BJP seat of Hamirpur in the year 2008. Not only contested the election, but Anurag was also successful in this 14th Lok Sabha election.
After which Anurag Thakur again won from Hamirpur seat for Loksabha election during the year 2009 and 2014.
After this, when the 16th Lok Sabha elections were held, he was declared the President of All India Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha along with winning.
Anurag had made the National Integration Tour from Kolkata to Srinagar successful and along with it had also put the quality of his leadership in front of everyone.
The purpose of this visit was to hoist the tricolor at Lal Chowk in Srinagar, which he also completed.
