Campaigning for ULB polls ends today

Campaigning for the Urban Local Bodies elections will end tomorrow evening ahead of polling on May 17 for 51 civic bodies, including four Municipal Corporations.

After the campaign period ends, candidates will not be allowed to hold rallies or processions, though door-to-door canvassing on an individual basis will be permitted.

The sale of liquor will also be banned from Friday evening, and liquor vends will remain closed till the conclusion of polling.

The State Election Commission has directed authorities to take strict action against anyone found distributing or serving alcohol during the dry period.

Counting for municipal councils and nagar panchayats will be held on May 17, while results for the four Municipal Corporations will be declared on May 31.
