Location

Rohtang Pass is situated 51 km from Manali on highway to Keylong/Leh. It offers a panoramic and beautiful mountain view. It lies between 32°22′17″N and 77°14′47″E.

About

Rohtang Pass is a high mountain pass on the Pir Panjal Range. It connects the Kullu Valley with the Lahaul and Spiti Valleys of Himachal Pradesh. The pass is open from June to October.

There are a beautiful sight of glaciers. The length of the pass is about 1 km. To the left of the pass five or six hundred feet higher is the little lake of ‘Sar Kund’.

Due to the military significance of the highway and the need to keep it open the entire year .The government began building the long Rohtang Tunnel in 2010. The tunnel will also short the distance by about 50 km and reduce the travel time between the southern and northern faces of Rohtang pass by five hours. This place is a picnic spot. It is starting point to Brighu lake trekking. The area is filled with beautiful flowers. Gulaba is 20 kms from Manali. When the Rotang pass is closed in winter season this is a good place to enjoy snow. Solang valley is 4 km off the way to Gulaba. Gulaba is 4-5 kms from Kothi. Gulaba has snow almost all year.

Rohtang Pass is accessible by roads from Manali and Kullu.The nearest airport is in Bhuntar about 104 km from Rohtang Pass. Joginder Nagar is the nearest railway station which is about 103 km from Rohtang Pass and 50 km from Manali. Rohtang Pass is well connected by HRTC buses. HRTC and private operators runs both air conditioned and non air conditioned deluxe coaches.

The best time to visit Rohtang pass May to October.The climate of Rohtang Pass always cool. The weather at the Rohtang Pass is rigid. A sudden drop in the temperature, even in summer, can trigger winter-like conditions.
