Due to poor drainage system at the 24-km patch of the National Highway-21, between Sundernagar and Mandi, traffic jams have become a routine affair.
The road between Sundernagar and Mandi is filled with water leaving vehicles stranded for hours. No police official is seen managing the traffic, thus, making the situation more difficult for commuters. It has been observed that there are no drains at many places and a few have been blocked by encroachers. Vasudha Ghanshyam Thakur, president of a local NGO, demanded action against the officials concerned and encroachers. A senior official of the PWD, on anonymity, said they found it difficult to deal with encroachers on account of political pressure.
