Shimla: A medium intensity earthquake with magnitude 4.4 was felt in Chamba region of Himachal Pradesh around 2:49 pm on Sunday.
As per initial reports, there were no reports of any loss of life or property in the region, but an alert has been issued in the area.
The region since yesterday had experienced a couple of low and medium intensity earthquakes. On Saturday, three low-intensity earthquake quakes were witnessed in Himachal Pradesh.
The first quake measuring 4.6 on the Richter scale hit the state at 6.44 a.m. and the second and the third of 4.3 and 4.2 magnitude temblor struck at 7.05 a.m. and 9.08 a.m. The epicentre of all the three quakes was recorded in the Kullu region.
Intensity of such low intensity earthquakes has suddenly become frequent after a 6.8-magnitude powerful quake shook Myanmar on August 24 (Wednesday). At least four people were killed and around 190 ancient famous pagodas were damaged in Bagan-Nyaung Oo region and Rakhine state.
