The new orders state that under Section 24 of the Disaster Management Act, the leaves of all field officers and employees who are currently on leave are canceled and they are asked to join duty immediately.

This is being done so that there is no delay in the relief and rehabilitation work and it can be done in a time bound manner. It has been said in the orders that no officer or employee will go on leave without first sanctioning leave and this leave will be given only in emergency situations.

Shangad

This is a very beautiful village situated in Sainj Valley. There is a temple of Shangchul Mahadev, actually it is the local deity of this village.

There is also a legend about this place, it is said that the Pandavas spent their exile here and lord Krishna met them here. Shangad village is about 7 km from Sainj Ropa.

You will have to come to this village by taxi or if you want to enjoy the adventure, then you can also track between the dense forests in the mountains.

The highest altitude of this park is 5,800 meters above sea level. If you come to Sainj Valley and feel like trekking then you can do this trek. This trek is definitely short but not easy at all. If you haven’t done trekking before, don’t do it.

Sarikanda

The average annual temperature in Sainj is 20.6 °C and gets about 1,387 mm of precipitation annually. As the place remains cool and rainy, one has to check weather forecasts before making the decision to visit any given time.

April and May are the months with no precipitation, but, as a place of beauty, you get to see some amazing snow-capped mountains in January and February. July to September is also good time to visit if you’re okay with monsoons.

By Car

One can drive their car to Sainj but it is a 10 hours drive from Delhi covering a distance of almost 480 kms. You will have to take NH 44 to Chandigarh, and from there head to Shimla and onward.

The road has tolls, but a petrolhead will surely enjoy the drive. You may break journey at Chandigarh and move ahead, or break journey at Shimla and proceed further. Both locations have good places to stay overnight and B&B (bed and breakfast).

By Bus

One will have to take a bus to Aut in Himachal, which is on the Delhi-Manali route, and go to Sainj by taxi.

The valley is close to Aut and you will not be spending much, may be Rs 500 per person. You can also take another bus to Sainj village from Aut depending on your convenience; but there is no direct bus.

By Air

One will have to fly to Kullu-Manali and then take local transport or taxi. The nearest airport is Kullu-Manali, and Sainj is a 95 min drive from there.

However, one can also fly to Chandigarh or Shimla and then drive from there, but the drive will be longer, at least about 7 hours on the mountain path.

Shimla: Restrictions have been imposed on new construction along the newly built four-lane stretch in Himachal. After the decision of the cabinet, the Town and Country Planning Department issued a notification in this regard.

Along with the formation of the planning area, now the land use has also been frozen for five years. PCP Principal Secretary Devesh Kumar has issued three separate notifications in this regard.

According to them, on National Highway-5 Parwanoo-Shimla, National Highway-3 Kiratpur-Manali, National Highway-88 Shimla-Mataur, and National Highway-154 Pathankot-Mandi, these restrictions will be applicable within a radius of 100 meters on both sides.

There will be no change in the area which was already notified under the planning area or special area in the middle of these national highways. This new system will be considered applicable from June 28.

Under another notification, land use has been frozen in this planning area for the next five years to protect the land on both sides of these four lanes and to prevent any threat to road transport.

This means that at the time of coming into force of this notification, there will be no change in the existing land use of that land. That is, if there is a farm within a radius of 100 meters, then agriculture can be done there, but a house will not be built on the farm.

Under another notification, the Town and Country Planning Department has also constituted the Atal Tunnel Planning Area in Rohtang.

Shimla: Himachal Pradesh Education Minister Rohit Thakur has said that the phase of reforms in the field of education will continue in the state.

The Himachal government is going to merge the old primary schools with admission of less than two children with the nearby schools.

Their number is around 150. Along with this, 78 more government schools are being denotified on the basis of low enrollment in newly opened schools.

The Education Minister said that tough decisions have to be taken to send teachers to the state’s schools where they are needed. Out of the schools opened blindly during the previous government, 286 schools have been denotified.

Now the new report has come on enrollment and it will have 78 more schools denotified. Along with this, the primary schools which have two or less than two children are also being merged.

They will be shifted to another nearby school and if needed, the state government will also pay the fare to take the child to the school. This will lead to rationalization of teachers and they can be used as per the need.

The Education Minister informed that according to the decision taken in the cabinet on May 17, 2023, the process to fill 5821 posts of teachers in the Education Department is going to start soon.

This vaccine is being considered as a revolutionary measure in the prevention of malaria. CDL sources said that six batches of the vaccine have been approved and given the green tick during the trials conducted at the Kasauli lab.

The vaccine batch has been confirmed to have passed on the CDL website. To prevent malaria, now people can be given a dose of vaccine.

In earlier tests, this vaccine has been found to be more than 70 percent effective against mosquito-borne diseases. It is not yet known how long this vaccine will provide protection against malaria.

Its price has not been disclosed yet. However, the greatest benefit of developing a vaccine would be a reduction in malaria deaths, as the vaccine would reduce the severity of malaria.

CDL officials said that in June they passed the vaccine batch and sent it to the company that developed it. After getting malaria, patients have to spend up to Rs 1,500 on treatment and have to take medicine for two weeks.

It takes up to three weeks for the patient to recover. However, malaria treatment is free in government hospitals. After vaccination, malaria will remain like normal fever.

CWPRS Pune team will conduct the survey
