Himachal Technical Education Minister GS Bali today told the state Assembly that seats in private technical institutions are not being filled as these lacked quality education and all the institutes which did not possess proper infrastructure would be closed and students would be shifted to government institutions.
Replying to a question of Sanjay Rattan (Congress), he said all these institutions would be inspected and the ones lacking infrastructure would be closed and the students would be shifted to government institutions.
A committee could be constituted for inspecting the institutes and follow-up action would be taken , he added.
He said there were 17,911 seats in government-run ITIs and 17,198 seats in private ITIs while the intake capacity of government and private polytechnics was 2,108 and 7,088 in 2016-17. — TNS
