Bathu Ki Ladi Temple is one of the oldest temples in India. The beauty of this wonderful miraculous temple is made by seeing it. It is believed about this temple that this is about 5000 years old.

Bathu Ki Ladi Temple is located in Kangra district of Himachal Pradesh, India. This temple is situated in Pong Dam (Maharana Pratap Sagar). This temple was completely submerged when the Pong Dam was built.

It is known as Bathu Ki Ladi because its buildings are made of stone called Bathu. When it is immersed in water, from a distance it looks like a string of pearls, which is why it is called Bathu Ki Ladi.

The specialty of this temple is that it is visible only for four months and remains submerged in water for eight months. This temple has been built in a very mysterious and wonderful way.

Many folklores are famous in the origin of this temple. According to local beliefs, this temple was built by the local kings who ruled the region.

According to some beliefs, this temple was built by the Pandavas. It is said that the Pandavas laid the foundation stone for its construction. From this temple the Pandavas tried to make a ladder to reach heaven but he lacked sufficient and proper time.

For this, the Pandavas sought help from Shri Krishna. According to Krishna, it was to be constructed at night only, that’s why there was no morning for six months.

That is, the night lasted for six months, but even in that time, the Pandavas were not able to make the stairs to heaven and two and a half steps were left to be made.

The stairs are still present in this temple. This temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati. The idols of Lord Ganesha and Vishnu have also been installed in it. When the water recedes in this temple then one can reach this temple in a boat.

There is also a belief about the temple that when the sun sets, the sun’s rays touch the Shivling located in this temple. The main shrine in this temple is the Shivling. Tourists come not only from India but also from abroad to visit this temple.

This place is also famous for being the abode of migratory birds. Birds are found here in large numbers which attract tourists. The view around the temple is very beautiful.

The water around the temple and the group of temples in the middle look amazing and beautiful. This temple can be reached by road coming through Jwali tehsil of Kangra district of Himachal Pradesh. It is situated at a distance of about 16 kms.
