The outbreak of cold has increased in Himachal Pradesh. The minimum temperature of 11 cities was recorded in minus on Tuesday night.
Half of Himachal remained in the lap of fog on Wednesday. Visibility has reduced due to fog in the plain districts. Vehicular movement has also been affected. There is a forecast of clear weather in the state on Thursday and Friday.
There is forecast of snowfall and rain in many areas on January 7-8. A yellow alert has also been issued for cold winds in the state on Thursday.
The weather remained clear in most areas of the state including the capital Shimla on Wednesday. In the plain districts of Una, Bilaspur, Hamirpur, Kangra including Mandi and some areas of Solan, there was fog in the morning and evening.
On Tuesday night, the minimum temperature in Hamirpur was 0.4, Kotkhai 0.2, Una 0.9, Mandi 1.6, Shimla 1.7, Chamba 2.4 degrees Celsius. Due to the decrease in the minimum temperature, drinking water pipes have frozen in many areas.
There is also a danger of vehicles slipping due to freezing of water on the roads. On the other hand, on Wednesday, the maximum temperature in Sundernagar was 21.8, Bilaspur 21.5, Chamba 20.2, Kangra-Solan 20.0, Mandi 19.8, Hamirpur 19.2, Dharamshala-Una 19.0, Bhuntar 18.0, Nahan 16.7, Shimla 13.3, Manali 9.8, Kalpa 7.6, Kufri 6.5 and Keylong recorded 2.0 degree Celsius.
