The commission will work as per the Water Cess Act-2023 on Himachal Pradesh Hydropower Generation.

The state government has made the salary, allowances, and other conditions of service of the Himachal Pradesh Hydropower Generation Water Cess State Commission Chairman and Members Rules-2023.

These rules have been made in the exercise of the powers under the Himachal Pradesh Hydroelectricity Generation Water Cess Act-2023.

According to them, the chairman and members of the commission will take oath of office and secrecy before the chief minister of Himachal Pradesh before assuming office.

The chairman of the commission will be entitled to receive fixed basic pay plus a dearness allowance of Rs.1,35,000 per month.

The member will be entitled to receive a fixed basic pay of Rs.1,20,000 and a dearness allowance.

However, if a Government officer is appointed as the Chairperson or a Member, he shall draw the benefits of his prescribed scale of pay and allowances.

If the chairman or member already has a government accommodation, he can retain it or get HRA.

Of these, approval has been received in the first phase from Shakral to Dhalli and it is expected that this part will be fully approved in the meeting to be held in July. After this the construction work will start here also.

The dumping site could not be found between Solan to Kanthlighat on the Shimla-Kalka National Highway. Because of this, the company management had to bear more expenses. Time was also being wasted.

The company management had demanded additional land from NHAI, so that this land could be developed as a dumping site, but this matter was also not getting out of forest clearance since last six months.

Now after getting the clearance, the construction of the Solan-Kanthalighat section will speed up. Apart from this, a sanction has also been received from Siuni to Rajol in Palampur.

NHAI has made it clear that the upcoming process will be expedited in the projects which have got forest clearance.

Regional Officer Abdul Basit said that NHAI would complete all the necessary formalities on time without losing any time and the construction of the project would be completed within the stipulated time.

Shimla: Admit cards for Joint Entrance Examination to be held on July 1 for 75 colleges affiliated to Himachal Pradesh University and Sardar Patel University Mandi have been issued.

This time 22,203 students have been found eligible for eight thousand seats in B.Ed. Admit cards have been issued on the admission portal of State University.

University Controller of Examinations Dr. JS Negi and Deputy Registrar of Entrance Examination Branch Amar Singh told that students should check any kind of error in the admit card thoroughly.

At the same time, for any kind of change in the application form, students can apply through the online admission portal till 5 pm on July 3.

In this, changes can be made in name, father’s name, category, and address. For this, the candidates will have to pay a fee of Rs 100 in the name of the Finance Officer of the University.

The university has set up 52 examination centers across the state for the entrance examination of B.Ed. On July 1, the exam will be held from 10 am to 12 am.

No changes will be possible in the application form after the result is declared, so students have to rectify the errors found in the application form and admit card within the given time limit.

Education loan will be available at a one percent interest rate

Shimla: To ensure that no youth of the state is deprived of vocational education due to lack of financial resources and economic status, the state government has started Mukhyamantri Vidyarthi Protsahan Yojana.

The scheme provides education loan up to Rs.20 lakh to poor meritorious students for their higher studies needs such as lodging, tuition fees, books, and other education related expenses.

Chief Minister Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu said that this loan would be provided at an interest rate of one percent.

Bonafide Himachali students who have passed the previous class examination with minimum 60% marks for pursuing diploma and degree in professional and technical education such as engineering, medical, para-medical, pharmacy, nursing, law, etc. He can avail this education loan.

Apart from this, the benefits of this scheme can also be availed by doing technical courses from Industrial Training Institutes and Polytechnic Colleges and Ph.D. under recognized universities.

In his first budget speech, the Chief Minister announced this new scheme to provide education loan to meritorious students. Recently the state cabinet has approved this scheme.

The fund will also be established at the Deputy Commissioner level.

A fund will be set up at the Deputy Commissioner level to remove any delay related to the disbursement of loan amount.

He will be authorized to release the first installment of fee to the institution concerned, so as to ensure that the admission process of the students is not hampered in any way, if the banks take time in releasing the first instalment. After this, this money will be reimbursed by the bank to the concerned Deputy Commissioner.

Youth eligible with income less than four lakh rupees

Such students, whose family income from all sources is less than four lakh rupees per annum and the age limit of the beneficiary is up to 28 years, will be eligible for this scheme.

Students wishing to avail benefits under this scheme can apply through the online portal by submitting all the necessary documents.

The case will be recommended by the Director, Higher Education to the bank concerned for release of the first installment of the loan to the eligible student.

First trial run of Panoramic Vistadome train was successful

Shimla: The first successful trial run of the Panoramic Vistadome train took place on the Kalka-Shimla Heritage Railway track on Tuesday. Teams of RDSO Lucknow and RCF Kapurthala jointly conducted the trial.

The RDSO special train from Kalka left at 8:05 am and reached Shoghi at 1:00 am. On reaching Shoghi, after a technical examination of the sensors installed in the train, it was dispatched towards Shimla at 1:46 pm at a speed of 22 kmph.

The special train reached Shimla Railway Station at 2:27. Trials will be held between Shimla and Shoghi for 10 days from Wednesday. The train will also be run at a maximum speed of 28 kilometers per hour.

The trial will be done by increasing the speed by 2 km per hour daily. RDSO Deputy Director Testing Susaran Tiru said that on the first day, various parameters were tested during the trial run between Shoghi and Shimla.

Panoramic Vistadome Train

Deputy CME Design, RCF Kapurthala, Abhay Dogra said that the riding experience of the coach was excellent during the trial.

Regular production of RDS and Panoramic Vistadome coaches will commence after the completion of the trials.

The Panoramic Vistadome AC coaches are soundproof. Outside noise is not heard inside the coach. Air brake has been given in the coach for the first time. The coaches equipped with LED lights are made of stainless steel.

The panoramic windows have floor-to-ceiling glass that gives a clear view of the outside world. The seats are comfortable. CCTV cameras are installed for security.

The toilets are equipped with modern vacuum flush. Two AC premium, one non AC, and one power AC coach have been prepared in the Panoramic Vistadome train.

The Premium AC coach is 12 seater. AC Chair Car is 24 seater, Non AC is 30 seater. The power AC coach will give power to other coach and only the guard will sit in it.

History

The monastery was built by the Buddhist king (also known as Royal Lama) Yeshe O’d in 996 A.D. It was renovated 46 years later by the royal priest Jangchub O’d, the grandnephew of Yeshe O’d.

They were kings of the Purang-Guge kingdom whose ancestry is traced to the ancient Tibetan monarchy, and extended their kingdom from Ladakh to Mustang by building a large network of trade routes, and built temples along the route. Tabo was built as a ‘daughter’ monastery of the Tholing Monastery in Ngari, western Tibet.

The walls of Tabo Monastery are 3 feet wide and the monastery complex consists of 9 temples, 23 stupas, a monk’s hall and an extension containing a nun’s hall.

According to the Tibetan calendar, Tabo Monastery was founded by a great teacher, Lotswa Rinchen Tsang Po – the king of the western Himalayan kingdom, followed by his grandfather Zangchub.

Tabo Monastery is a favorite destination for Indian scholars who wanted to learn the Tibetan language. The period between the 17th and 19th centuries saw political and religious unrest.

The monastery was rebuilt in 1975 following an earthquake in the area. A new Du-kang or assembly hall was added to this structure in 1983 in response to the growing interests of many Buddhist followers.

The Golden Temple (gSer -Khang)

Once believed to have been layered with gold, this shrine was exhaustively renovated in the 16th century by Senge Namgyal, ruler of Ladakh. The walls and ceiling are covered with murals.

The Large Temple of Dromton (Brom-ston Lha khang)

This temple occupying a floor area of 70 sq km. This temple is the second largest temple of the monastery. The additional area of 42 sq km is covered by the verandah and the niche. On the front wall, a figure of Sakymuni with Sariputra and Maha Maugdalayana on his side can be seen.

The Mahakala Vajra Bhairava Temple (Gon-khang)

The fierce protective deities of the Gelukpa sect are numerous in the room. This is the reason why this temple is also known as the ‘temple of horror’.

Direct buses of Himachal State Transport are available from Chandigarh, Shimla, Kullu, Manali, and some places in North India.

There is no direct flight available to Spiti Valley. The nearest airport is at Bhuntar, which is located near Kullu and is 245 km from the valley. However, Bhuntar Airport is small with limited flights.

Alternatively, Chandigarh Airport is the nearest international airport at a distance of 522 km. As another alternative, the airport is located in Shimla.

How to Reach by Train

The nearest broad gauge railway station to Spiti is located at Chandigarh, which has good connectivity to all major cities of the country.

There is also a railway station at Jogindernagar which is the nearest to Spiti, but the connectivity of this railway station is very poor. Another nearest railway station is located at Kalka.
